Darlene - Office Manager 

          Darlene joined the St. James Animal Hospital team in Sept 2007. She arrived with many years of veterinary receptionist experience. Darlene lives with her 2 human sons as well as her 2 feline children and 2 canine children. She enjoys relaxing on the beach when possible, watching good movies,  and spending quality time with her children. Darlene is a real people person and loves all of the interactions with the clients and their pets on a daily basis.




 

Jen

Jen came to St James Animal Hospital after working as a photographer.  She is the adoptive mom of a special needs dachshund named Buffy.  She also has a cute little guinea pig named Mooch. Jen has been a vegetarian for 12 years and loves to cook.  Her hobbies include kickboxing, yoga and photography.  She is compassionate for all living things. 

Valerie

Veterinary Assistants

Sabrina- Lead Veterinary Assistant 

Sabrina joined our team early in 2010 and comes to the St. James Animal Hospital with 10 years of previous veterinary experience. She lives with her husband Matt and her 2 dogs (Panda and Copper), and her ball python (Kokomo).  Sabrina is an avid video gamer and cook.  She also enjoys reading, drawing, painting and horseback riding. She has a passion for equine medicine and pet dentistry.  Sabrina is also currently enrolled in the veterinary technician program and expects to get her license in 2011.                                                                                                                                                  

Matt                                                                                                                                 

Matt has been with our team since early 2011.  He served in the US Army for 5 years and was over seas for 2 years.  He is now home with his wife Sabrina and their 2 dogs (Copper and Panda) His wife gave birth to there first human child in late November 2011.  Matt enjoys playing video games and studying about history.  In his spare time Matt is a volunteer firefighter for the St James Fire Dept.   He also has a strong passion for animals.    

Hanna

Hanna started working as a part of our team early 2011.  She lives in East Northport with her 2 dogs (Tyson and Boo) 6 ferrets and 1 cat (Matt).  Hanna has started the veterinary technician program in August 2011 and plans on getting her license by 2013.  She attended Wilson Tech for 2 years studying veterinarian assisting.  Her free time consist of hanging out with friends, and taking Boo to the dog park.  

Karissa          

Josh

Josh lives locally here on Long Island and is currently a student attending the University of Vermont where he is studying pre vet med.  He has a strong love of animals and veterinary medicine.  One day he aspires to become a practicing veterinarian.  In his free time Josh enjoys sports including tennis and football as well as a variety of social activities.  You will usually see Josh during the summer time and holiday time when he's home visiting from college.       

Lauren    

Lauren graduated from University of Tampa in 2008 with a BS in Biopsychology.  She now lives in Hicksville with her boyfriend Josh, and her 3 four legged children Shea, Leonard and Layla.  In her spare time she like to run, hike and spend time with her family.  Lauren is currently enrolled in a vet tech program and is expected to get her license in 2013.                                                                                              

Jake - Hospital Mascot

     Jake is a long term member of the St James Animal Hospital and joined our staff with Dr. Star in 2001, even though he is no longer with us he will always remain in our hearts. He was born on the island of St Kitts in 1997. St Kitts is a small island in the West Indies and is well known for their exotic dog breeds, namely the Kittitian Monkey Hound of which Jake is a member. Kittitian Monkey Hounds are bred for climbing trees and hunting monkeys which are indigenous to St Kitts. In his spare time, Jake would enjoy sleeping, sleeping, sleeping, and begging for food when sleeping gets to be too tedious.
